Copyright and Licensing Policy
Policy update date: 1 October 2026
Copyright
Authors retain copyright in their work published in the Electronic Journal of Medical Research (EJMR). Authors grant EJMR a non-exclusive licence to publish, distribute, and preserve the article and to identify itself as the original publisher. This licence does not transfer copyright ownership away from the author(s).
Licence to Publish
Articles published in EJMR from 1 October 2026 onwards are made available under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International licence (CC BY 4.0), applied by the author(s) as copyright holders.
Under this licence, anyone may copy, redistribute, translate, adapt, and build upon the work for any purpose, including commercially, provided that appropriate credit is given to the author(s), the original publication in EJMR is acknowledged, a link to the licence is included, and any changes are indicated. Reuse must not imply endorsement by the author(s) or by EJMR. No additional restrictions may be imposed that legally restrict others from doing anything the licence permits.
Third-party material is covered by this licence unless otherwise indicated in a credit line; where a credit line indicates that material is not covered, permission for reuse must be sought from the stated rights holder. Applicable copyright exceptions and limitations remain unaffected. The complete terms are available in the licence's legal code.
The licence is stated on the article landing page and within every full-text format in which the article is published.
Publishing Rights
Authors may enter into separate, additional arrangements for the non-exclusive distribution or reuse of the journal's published version, including depositing it in an institutional or subject repository or incorporating it into a book, provided that its initial publication in EJMR is acknowledged and its DOI is included. No embargo applies.
Licence History
EJMR has used the following licences. Each article carries the licence in force at the date of its publication, and that licence is stated on the article itself.
| Period | Licence |
|---|---|
| From 1 October 2026 | CC BY 4.0 |
| Before 1 October 2026 | CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 |
Creative Commons licences are irrevocable, so articles published before this change remain available under CC BY-NC-SA 4.0. Where all copyright holders of an earlier article agree, EJMR will relicense that article under CC BY 4.0 and update its record accordingly; the article's stated licence is authoritative in every case.
Preprint Policy
EJMR will consider for review articles previously posted as preprints on any preprint server, provided that:
- Author(s) inform the journal at the time of submission if and where the article has been previously posted.
- The posted version has not been peer-reviewed, edited, or typeset.
- The article has not been previously published in part or in whole in any scientific journal, book, or similar entity.
- Upon acceptance, the author(s) grant EJMR a license to publish under the terms above.
- Author(s) update any pre-publication versions with a link to the final published article via its DOI.
Self-Archiving
EJMR supports self-archiving. Authors may archive any version of their manuscript (preprint, accepted manuscript, or published version) to personal or institutional websites and repositories, at any time before or after publication, provided the published source is acknowledged with a citation and a link to the final published article via its DOI.
