Archiving Policy

Overview

The Electronic Journal of Medical Research is committed to the long-term preservation and accessibility of all content it publishes, ensuring that the scholarly record remains available even if the journal, its publisher, or its website were to become unavailable in the future.

1. Persistent Identifiers

Every published article is assigned a Digital Object Identifier (DOI), registered through Crossref. The DOI provides a permanent, citable link to the article that remains resolvable even if the article's hosting location changes.

2. Open Access and No Embargo

All EJMR content is published open access under a CC BY 4.0 license and made freely available immediately upon publication, with no subscription requirement, paywall, or embargo period.

3. Author Self-Archiving and Institutional Repositories

Authors are encouraged and permitted to deposit the published version of their article, together with a link to its DOI, in their institution's repository or a relevant subject-specific repository (e.g., PubMed Central, Europe PMC), in accordance with EJMR's Copyright and Licensing Policy. This gives published content an additional, independent point of access beyond the journal's own platform.

4. Metadata Preservation

In addition to full-text content, structured article metadata - author names, affiliations, ORCID iDs, keywords, DOI, and publication date is registered with Crossref and remains searchable through Crossref and the indexing services listed on EJMR's Indexing & Abstracting page, independent of the journal's own website.

5. Retractions and Corrections

Where an article is retracted or corrected, the notice is permanently linked to the original article, and the original article remains accessible and clearly marked accordingly, in line with EJMR's Article Corrections, Retractions, and Withdrawal Policy.

6. Format

Articles are published in PDF and HTML formats, supporting accessibility across devices and compatibility with standard text and data mining tools.

7. Backups

The journal's hosting platform maintains regular backups of all published content as a safeguard against data loss, hardware failure, or technical disruption.

8. Third-Party Digital Preservation — In Progress

EJMR is in the process of establishing a formal third-party digital preservation arrangement (such as the PKP Preservation Network) to provide an independent, distributed archive of its content beyond the journal's own hosting platform. This policy will be updated to name the specific service once enrollment is confirmed and active. EJMR states only preservation arrangements it is actually and currently enrolled in.

9. Future Preservation Arrangements

EJMR may pursue additional preservation arrangements (such as CLOCKSS, Portico, or national library legal deposit) as the journal grows. This policy will be updated to reflect any such arrangement once it is formally in place EJMR states only preservation services in which it is actually and currently enrolled.

10. Review

This policy is reviewed periodically to ensure it accurately reflects EJMR's current preservation arrangements and remains aligned with best practice in scholarly digital preservation.
