Every manuscript that passes the editor’s initial assessment is sent to at least two independent reviewers under a double-anonymised model. Editorial decisions rest with the handling editor and are never influenced by payment.
Articles are free to read from the day of publication. Authors retain copyright and publish under a Creative Commons licence.
Article processing charges are published on each journal’s site before submission. There are no submission fees and no charges for rejected manuscripts.
Published articles receive a DOI through Crossref, so the version of record stays citable. A long-term preservation arrangement is being put in place.
We screen submissions for plagiarism and follow COPE guidance when handling allegations of misconduct, corrections and retractions.
Accepted articles are published as soon as they are ready and are added to the issue in progress, rather than waiting for that issue to close. Each journal still assembles issues at its stated frequency.
Paid services for authors preparing a manuscript for submission, to this publisher or to any other. Each completed job is issued with a certificate carrying a verification number, which anyone can check on the certificate verification page.

These services are separate from editorial decisions. Buying language editing or any other service does not improve a manuscript’s chance of acceptance in our journals, and our editors are not told which submissions have used them. Editorial decisions are made by the handling editor on the basis of peer review alone.
